extension maintenance
-
use only professional sulfate free hair care products
-
use minimal texture/hair spray on extensions, as this can cause them to dry out
-
do NOT get sunscreen on the extensions, this can cause discoloration and it cannot be removed. if this occurs, hair will need to be replaced by client.
-
do not use a round brush on extensions, use only a "wet brush" or a brush designed specifically for extensions
-
dry 75% of hair before using a brush when drying extensions
-
do not sleep on wet extensions
-
sleep with hair in a loose braid or low ponytail, this is crucial so matting does not occur
-
brush hair twice daily, before sleeping and prior to showering to rid of any tangles
-
when swimming, wet hair first and use a leave-in conditioner that is combed throughout and braid hair to keep in tact. always wash and condition hair immediately after swimming.
-
minimal use of purple shampoo will help save the life of the extension hair. if needed, use no more than once a week and concentrate on natural hair. if left too long on extension hair, it can turn purple. if you fee extension hair has become brassy, dilute purple shampoo with moisturizing shampoo so it is not as potent and make sure to rinse right after
**because extension hair is not our own, it is susceptible to becoming more dry than our natural, which is why it is imperative to use sulfate free products. mother nature, products, water and personal care all play a role in how it affects the life and longevity of extensions**
